Course Description

This course provides real estate professionals with a thorough, working knowledge of the construction techniques, materials, and building systems used in modern construction. This information is particularly helpful in learning to identify typical risks and deficiencies involved in property ownership. A field trip to inspect a commercial building allows students to put theory to practice.

Topics: Site evaluation; foundation and structure; roofing; power and HVAC systems; plumbing; fire protection; Phase-one elevator inspection; physical deficiencies; and costs of correction.
